Fillings and Inlays

Dental Fillings / Dental Inlays

A dental filling is a type of dental restoration provided by a dentist to repair decayed or damaged teeth.

Many dental patients that travel to Hungary for dental care combine this kind of restorative dental procedure with other types of dental treatment, although it is not uncommon for people to seek the services of a dentist abroad if a large number of fillings are required and nothing more.

One of the most popular procedures is the removal of existing silver colored amalgam fillings and replaced with less toxic composite dental materials.

Dental Filling Materials

Our Hungarian Dentist does not offer amalgam filling materials instead opting for more advanced mercury free solutions from Japanese dental manufacturers such as Fuji and Kodak.

These direct composite dental materials are a little more expensive than amalgam and require slightly longer time for the dentist to insert but the main advantages are as follows:

- Composite filling materials are tooth colored
- Easier to repair than other dental filling materials
- Less tooth structure needs to be removed by the cosmetic dentist in comparison to alternative dental materials

Amalgam Removal

All of our Dentist’s are aware of the guidelines provided by the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology to help minimise mercury exposure during the removal of your old dental fillings.

There are many things that your Dentist can do to reduce exposure to mercury particles.

Inlays

A dental Inlay is considered to be an indirect dental restoration because it has to be manufactured in a Hungarian dental laboratory by a qualified dental technician.

Whilst fillings are suitable dental restorations for small to medium sized cavities, an inlay is a perfect solution for larger cavities on the biting surface of a tooth.

This is an ideal solution when a dental filling would not suffice and a dental porcelain crown is considered to be more than is necessary to resolve the problem.

What is an inlay?

An inlay is similar to a dental filling because it lies inside the tooth. A dental inlay is usually made from porcelain or gold which is a tailor made solution that fits exactly inside the prepared cavity and is bonded into place.

Popular materials are porcelain because it is a similar color to natural teeth and gold because this material has shock absorbing abilities which is ideal for biting surfaces.
